We're starting at the Gaylord Convention Center, the site of the 2022 NAR Legislative Meetings. If you're staying here for the convention, be sure to check out their restaurant, spa, or game room! Let's take a look around the area, starting with Cadillac Ranch.
Head straight forward on Fleet Street to its intersection with Waterman Passage.
Welcome to Cadillac Ranch - this two-level restaurant features three bars, $9 happy hour sliders, and a fully functional mechanical bull! This is a great spot to stop by in National Harbor whether you're getting tipsy or getting tipped off a bucking steer!
Can you hear music? It's probably coming from Bobby McKey's Dueling Piano Bar! This musical lounge has local musicians playing requests, crowd favorites, and splicing in some punchy humor with their acts. People come here for Boozy Brunches on Sundays, plus private events from bachelorette parties to corporate events to kids' parties! This is a must-see for local music fans.
Continue on Fleet Street for another block and take a left on American Way to visit our sweet next location: The Furlough Cheesecake.
Sweet tooth and interesting story alert! Welcome to The Furlough Cheesecake, which opened when two sisters were furloughed from government jobs and succeeded even further using online deliveries during the Coronavirus pandemic! In fact, this store opened during National Cheesecake Day - July 30th 2020. You can stop in and check out some of their exclusive flavors, which are delicious and help these sisters provide coats and supplies to the Shepherd's Cove Emergency Shelter for Women and Children!
Next, we're going to visit The Carousel! Continue to walk down American Way, take a right on Waterfront street, and then take a left after the Hyatt on National Plaza.
Here's a classic family attraction! Parents love coming to this 36-foot carousel for fun with their kids, starting at $7 for unlimited rides. There are also lots of playgrounds and pavilions with tables – it’s a great place to host a birthday party, or just spend a day with the family!
Let's head straight down National Plaza to get to the Waterfront!
Welcome to National Harbor's plaza! Community events such as movie screenings, film festivals, and yoga sessions are held here! You can also walk toward the Potomac River and see the statue of a giant trapped in the sand called "The Awakening". It was built in 1980 and purchased for National Harbor in 2007. Check out the realism and detail on each of the five pieces!
Let's start making our way back to the convention center. Keep walking along National Plaza, then take a right onto Waterfront Street.
Have you seen all the cool stores around? You can find comfortable shoes, cool gifts and souvenirs, and active lifestyle clothing here! We wish we could cover every store in National Harbor on this tour, but you can search through the full list in the link of this POI! Take a second, if you'd like, to pause the tour, click the link, and search for anything from essentials to luxury items.
When you're ready, keep walking on Waterfront Street back towards the convention center - we have one last stop on the way!
Are you looking for high-end Asian fusion? Welcome to Grace's Mandarin! Everything about Grace's Mandarin is impressive, from the food to the decor. Their unique 33-foot Buddha statue and 3-story waterfall make this well worth a stop if you're looking to celebrate over a meal! Check out their fresh sushi and sake pairings, or enjoy a selection from their extensive wine and champagne list.
Continue left along Waterfront Street to return to the convention center!
