About this English self-guided 57m driving tour in Palos Verdes
Hello there and welcome to the UCPlaces Where to Live tour of Palos Verdes Peninsula. I’m Shelly and I’ll be showing you around this amazing area.
Ok, let’s get this started! Meet me in front of Promenade on the Peninsula. It’s an amazing shopping center on Indian Peak Road. Just follow your navigation and I’ll meet you there.
28072-28000 Indian Peak Rd, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274, USA
Promenade on the Peninsula
How about we start off with where to shop? Promenade on the Peninsula offers dining, shopping, medical and professional services, activities and of course, a movie theater. Get your hair done, shop for clothes, eat a meal, and even take some self defense classes here. Sounds like a great date-night to me! WIth three floors to explore, Promenade on the Peninsula can keep you entertained for quite a while!
Don’t hang out here for too long though, at least not right now. We have a lot of things to see! Follow your navigation to our next site. Actually our next stop has two sites. It’s a two-for-one.
Crenshaw Blvd, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA 90274, USA
South Coast Botanic Garden
So the Peter Weber Equestrian Center is on your left, but we will talk about that later. For now, please pull into the South Coast Botanical Garden parking lot on your right because I have a lot to say about this place.
Ok, the mission of the South Coast Botanic Garden is to serve the community by providing a unique horticulture and wildlife habit experience, and to represent a model of excellence for land reclamation and sustainability.
The South Coast Botanic Garden delivers education, programs and events offering layered experiences of surprise, adventure, beauty and serenity through color, texture, sound and light.
So that’s pretty great, but let me tell you about some of the highlights of this place. You’ve got the Banyan Grove, California Native Plants, the Children’s Garden and Discovery Garden, Desert Garden, Display Greenhouse, Fuschia Garden, Garden for the Senses, Japanese Koi Garden, Mediterranean Garden and a Rose Garden.
Whew!
There’s also a hide and seek art display spread all across the 87 acre gardens and special dates when you can bring your dog and enjoy the beauty of the South Coast Botanic Garden.
I go on and on about this fun place but we should probably continue on our tour. As you head back down Crenshaw Blvd the way we came in, look to the right and you will see the Peter Weber Equestrian Center.
With access to 90 miles of beautifully manicured horse trails, this place is a year-round horse enthusiast’s dream. They also offer riding lessons, boarding, Pony Camps, Hay Rides, After School Enrichment Programs and a Petting Zoo.
Please follow your navigation north on Palos Verdes Drive.
408 Vía Chico, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274, USA
Malaga Cove Plaza
Let’s talk about the city of Palos Verdes Estates If you peek through the trees coming up on your left you will see multi-building Malaga Cove Plaza and the Neptune Fountain. The fountain is a ⅔ scale, 100 year old replica of King Neptune - a marble statue originally set in northern Venice. The statue represents the Palos Verdes community strength, vision and stability.
As we continue to drive toward the coast, look around. Can you imagine yourself living here? I bet you can and Rich would love to help you find that perfect home.

So within the park is the 10,000 square foot Interpretive Center.Inside you will find exhibits on the natural and cultural aspects of the Peninsula. This is also a premier gray whale watch site as they migrate from December through April.
The lighthouse is a coastal landmark and beacon from the 1920’s. In 1979 it was added to the National Registry of Historic Sites, but it still functions as a lighthouse for the Coast Guard.

There’s an interesting looking gatehouse ahead on your right. It was built in 1926 by husband and wife duo Edward Harden and Ruth Vanderlip. The architect was Gordon Kaufmann who also worked on the Hoover dam, the Los Angeles Times building and the Santa Anita Racetrack. Keep driving and enjoy the homes and views as we head to our final destination.

Trump National Golf Club
So no matter what side of the political aisle you are on, I think most of us can agree that Trump National Golf Clubs are phenomenal. We are now coming up on the Trump National Golf Club of Los Angeles. Here’s a little history for you: in the 1950’s this property was used for farming crops. In 1953 it was purchased by Edward Zuckerman. In 1973, 1989 and 1993 Zuckerman’s proposals to develop a golf course here were denied. In 1994 the proposal was approved and by 1999 nine holes were completed. In the same year a Televised Celebrity Golf Tournament was planned for July 2, after the 18 holes would be complete, but on June 2nd a landslide demolished the 18th hole. A year later the course reopened to the public as “the best 15 holes in golf.” Donald Trump purchased the place in 2002 and in 2006 with 18 holes it officially became the Trump National Golf Club. Did you get all that? Good.
This Club also has a pro-shop, locker rooms, party rooms, a cafe and lounge and a few large event rooms.
The property features beautiful meandering walking trails with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
Whew! We made it! I hope you enjoyed seeing some sites here as much as I enjoyed showing you around.
Thanks for joining me today on this tour of beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula. Have a great day!
