Diya Bistro
Our first stop on this tour today is Diya Bistro, located on your left.
Diya Bistro is run by sibling duo Jay and Rahul Arora, following in the footsteps of their parents who started the bistro after they immigrated to the United States from Delhi in 1975. It’s tagline is “Good Vegetarian Eats” and for good reason.
Their menu showcases a wide range of traditional and flavorful Indian cuisine including Paneer Makhani and Bhindi Masala. If you have a sweet tooth, try their Kheer which is a traditional Indian Rice Pudding.

They even offer catering services, with over 250 food options. This makes Diya is a great option for weddings or other large events.

Take a left onto Ashburn Road.

Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant
Next up is Cooper's Hawk Winery and Restaurant on your left.

The Cooper's Hawk Winery is based in Woodridge, Illinois and produces over 60 varieties of wine. Don’t try and taste them all at one time! You will need more than one trip to taste their complete wine list.

Enjoy decadent gnocchi carbonara, or if you’re looking for something on the lighter side, their seared Atlantic salmon complete with oven roasted potatoes is a great choice. If you’re like me and love wine and chocolate, the flourless chocolate cake makes a great pairing with a sweet red wine of your choice.

If you can’t get enough wine, which I mean, who can, become a member of Cooper's Hawk’s Wine Club! It’s like a book of the month club except you get to enjoy a new wine either in their dining room, or, sent straight to your door. As of 2021, Cooper's Hawk’s wine club has over 500,000 members!

Continue down Russell Branch Parkway.

Rubino’s Pizzeria
Welcome to Rubino's Pizza on your left. Rubino’s was founded in 2005 by Loudoun natives and George Mason Alumni: Stephen, John and David Rubino. These brothers wanted to bring their traditional Italian family recipes to life and there’s no better place than their own neighborhood.

You’ll often find that Rubino’s ranks favorite among Ashburn locals, and for good reason. Their authentic New York style Italian food can’t be matched. Of course their signature cheese pizza is a no brainer but you can’t go wrong with a cheesy calzone or their signature hoagie, the “Knuckle Sandwich”. Their slices are generous and have a sprinkle of love you can only find in comfort food.

Take a left back onto Russell Branch Parkway.

House 6 Brewing
House 6 Brewing is a craft brewery started by Ashburn local and volunteer firefighter, Rolando Rivera, which you will see emulated in the firefighter themed decor. You might even see Rolando working the bar, so make sure to say “Hi.”

You’ll find a great selection of IPAs, ales and porters. If you like a tart beer, definitely try Berry Bad Ashley which has nice blackberry undertones. If you would rather have something on the lighter side, El Bombero is a great German style ale.

You know what goes great with Beer? Pretzels! You’ve got to get one of their hot baked pretzels while you are here. If you want to take the fun back home with you, House 6 also offers Growler fills, kegs and cans.

The best part about House 6 Brewing is that it’s dog friendly, so bring your furry companion along!

Sense of Thai / Slapfish
On your left we will pass Sense of Thai which is one of the crown jewels of Ashburn. Sense of Thai has been ranked one of the top Asian Restaurants in Northern Virginia multiple years in a row. Their menu is inspired by the Chumphon region of Thailand, which has influence from India and China due to its location on a prominent trading route. You can’t go wrong with their street fried rice or spicy pumpkin curry.

If you want to add some boogie to your night, stay past 10pm because DJ Snow plays old school classics from 10pm till closing Fridays and Saturdays.

A right turn at the Cinema will take us past Slapfish on your right. Slapfish is a seafood restaurant with a mission to make seafood fun and enjoyable. Try their savory “clobster” grilled cheese or if you want something on the lighter side, their citrus shrimp salad does not disappoint.

Make sure to take a left onto Loudoun County Parkway.

Route 7 Beer Co/ Black Hog
Right off Route 7, we have Route 7 Beer Co. This brand new brewery and taproom offers a 2,000 square foot sitting area with a long bar alongside a beer garden. This mix of indoor and outdoor space makes this brewery a great spot to soak up the warm summer days, of course with a cold pint in hand.

Next up is Black Hog, one of the best places to get authentic BBQ in Ashburn. Black Hog’s name comes from one of the rarest hogs in Northern America. Today the black hog is endangered with fewer than 300 breeding hogs registered.

You’ll find plenty of authentic barbeque fixings, like “Red Texas Red” no bean chili, or southern greens. Black hog specializes in multiple BBQ techniques, so enjoy St. Louis style spare ribs or try the Arkansas brisket.

Ashburn History
As we continue straight down Riverside Parkway let’s give you some Ashburn history.
As far back as 1802, Ashburn was referred to as Farmwell. According to local folklore, the name “Ashburn” came from when a bolt of lightning struck an Ash tree. Apparently, the tree continued to smolder and burn for days after.

The first recorded use of the name Ashburn was in 1870 when the farm of the famous tree was renamed to Ashburn Farm. The town was officially named Ashburn in 1896.
