Thisseos Square
Beginning our walk through the history rich city of Athens, we are here at Thissieos Square! Technically a part of the broader area of Plaka, it is known for its lively atmosphere and traditional Greek architecture. Not only are there ancient ruins nearby like the Hephaestus Temple, the square is also lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops where you can be immersed in Greek culture. 

We will walk along a long row of those many businesses, and I hope you choose to stop and grab a snack before we begin our journey! I highly recommend waiting in line at one of these street food stalls and getting yourself either - or both! - souvlaki or loukoumades. Souvlaki are small pieces of grilled or skewered meat in pita bread with tzatziki sauce, and loukoumades are deep fried balls of dough soaked in honey. A savory and a sweet option!

Taking a UCPlaces tour is fun and easy.
