Las Vegas is known for its iconic strip and infamous nightlife. Clocking in as Nevada’s most populous city, there is no shortage of excitement here. Northwest Las Vegas paints a different picture. Here you’ll trade neon signs for beautiful mountain ranges and strip malls for scenic orchards. It’ll be hard to believe we are only 20 minutes from the strip out here. This is a great location for those who want a quiet homelife to balance out the thrill of downtown.

Tule Springs Fossil Bend Park
We will start out this tour at the famous Tule Springs Fossil Bed National Monument. It was here in 1933, Quarry workers found remains of a Mammoth they later named “Tule the Baby Mammoth.
Since then many paleontological discoveries have been made at this site including the discoveries of camelops, a now extinct cousin of the better known Camel and the prehistoric American Lion, ranging from 7,000 to 250,000 years old.
Tule Springs was established in 2014, making it a newer national monument with a few temporary trails making it worth a visit. Just make sure to bring plenty of water and watch out for Rattlesnakes!
Here is Ice Age Fossils State Park, one of Nevada’s newest State Parks. The park’s modern visitor center will be set to open in the Winter of 2022, along with a set of trails directing visitors to archaeological dig sites and prehistoric fossil beds.
In the meantime, enjoy free admission to Fossils State Park while the visitor center is being built. While hiking keep your eyes out for bone and tusk fragments that are abundant in this park, just make sure to take only pictures. Also feel free to bring your furry friends, just make sure they are leashed!

Just along the way on your right is The Las Vegas Farm. Started in 1961, The Las Vegas Farm offers free-range eggs from various fowl including chickens, peacocks and quail as well fresh honey collected right on the property.
In 2012, The Las Vegas Farm partnered with Barn Buddies, a non-profit dedicated to the rescue of abused, neglected or abandoned farm animals. The farm does allow you to feed some of the animals, making this a great place to enjoy yourself with children.
